MEN'S MINISTRY As followers of Jesus Christ, we meet, study, pray, and serve one another so as to encourage each other to become true Men of Christ. We provide a Christian Men’s Ministry that challenges our men to grow and mature in their Christian walk with Christ. The following are some of the programs available to our men. · Wednesday Night Gathering One of the very real needs that exists within our church family is for regular prayer and conversation with other brothers in Christ to foster commitment, growth, and accountability. Wednesday night gatherings from 6:45-7:30 (7:00-7:45 in summer) are times for growing closer and sharing our faith walk. We study scripture, a book, or sometimes pray for one another as the situation requires.
Annual Men’s Retreat This year we are beginning our planning for our first annual Men’s Retreat to be held in the fall of 2005. Our deacons will be working on a speaker/resource person and will be leading the retreat. Although our topic is yet to be determined, it will be designed to enable us to be more effective as husbands, fathers, friends , workers, and followers of Christ.
Service Projects This fall will begin our organized efforts towards service in one or more ministries of the Church. Under consideration are “helping hands” projects to assist our elderly members with household repair projects, yard work, etc.
Fellowship In this area we seek to provide opportunities for men to gather together in various settings to foster interpersonal relationships as well as to share challenges and concerns unique to men.
We are grateful for the resources God has granted us (such as health, finances, abilities, etc.) and strive to use these blessings to be a blessing to others in Christ’s name. We model encouragement by showing that Sunset Ridge Men of Christ stand side-by-side to laugh in times of joy, but also support one another in times of trial. Finally, we stress accountability, recognizing that being a man of God is not an easy task in today’s world and that we have a mutual responsibility to dare one another to be all that God desires us to be.
