"Loving God's Children in the West End of San Antonio"

In the West End of San Antonio live many very poor families.  The children in this area often do not have normal access to safe recreation, basic health, and dental care, or simple encouragement with their education.

Urban Connection - San Antonio (UC-SA) is cooperating with the neighbors in the West End to help provide a better life and a better future for the neighborhood's children and their families.  UC-SA began work in San Antonio in March 2002 as an extension of Central Dallas Ministries.  Christians in San Antonio are working with West End neighbors and with UC-SA staff, including taking responsibility for key leadership assignments and for funding.

The first focus of UC-SA has been with the neighbors who live in Lincoln Heights Courts, a housing development operated by the San Antonio Housing Authority.  These residents are special people.  to be eligible to live in the neighborhood, residents must be in financial need and must either be senior citizens, be employed, or be pursuing job training.  There are about 30 senior citizens living in the neighborhood as well as many working families with children.
