New Service Times
Many of you may have received our email last week regarding the exciting news about our new worship schedule.

Beginning April 7th, our worship schedule will undergo a transformation that we believe will bring us closer together and allow us to engage with God in new and meaningful ways.  We plan to experiment with this schedule through the summer.  Here are the details of the new schedule:

1. Acapella Service:  This beautiful worship experience will take place at 9:00 AM in the Sanctuary.  Through the beauty of music, communion, and time in the Word, we will come together to lift our voices in praise and adoration of our Lord, as we seek to advance God's Kingdom in our midst and beyond.

2. Formation Time:  Following the Acapella Service, at 10:15 AM, we will gather for Formation Time.  This dedicated time will provide opportunities for adults, teens, and children to engage in spiritual growth, fellowship, and education as we delve deeper into God's Word and explore what it means to live out our faith in our daily lives.  Together, we will equip ourselves to be disciples who boldly proclaim the message of God's Kingdom and embody its values in our neighborhood and community.

3. Instrumental Service:  At 11:00 AM in the Chapel our worship band will lead our second service.  With the harmonious melodies of voices and musical instruments, we will worship, embrace time for quiet reflection, communion, and time in the Word uplifting our spirits and drawing us closer to God.

In both services as we worship, we will be reminded of our calling to be agents of God's love and hope, shining brightly in our community and beyond.
If you are unable to be in the sanctuary or chapel with us on Sundays for any reason, know that, as always, our sermons will be uploaded to our YouTube channel by Wednesday of every week for all to view.

True or False

-Riley Stirman, Preaching Minister of Sunset Ridge Church

Towards the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructs his followers to be on their guard against people who seem like true disciples.  Not everyone who calls Jesus "Lord" on the last day can be trusted.  To some, even some who performed miracles or drove out demons, Jesus will say "I never knew you.  Away from me, evildoer."

That's not the fuzzy feel-good note that we usually like to hear our sermons end on.  There's an interesting warning in this for us, a warning I feel is especially apt in an election year.

The biggest threat to the Church doesn't come from Jesus's enemies.  It comes from his friends.

We are the ones who have the potential to do the most harm to the Christian witness.  We are the ones who could give our Lord Jesus a pretty bad name.  And, as the Sermon on the Mount seems to suggest, we are capable of deluding ourselves into thinking that we're serving Jesus, when all the time we're not actually hearing his teaching and putting it into practice.

Unfortunately, the Kingdom of God doesn't need fans.  The Kingdom doesn't need people who strongly agree with the teachings of Christ.  The Kingdom isn't looking for armchair quarterbacks, backseat drivers, or fair-weather friends.

What our world desperately needs is people who allow their lives to be shaped by the cross. People who look to the life of Christ as an example of how to live.  People whose every action, word, and thought is shaped by the desire to love their God and love their neighbor.  This world needs true disciples of Jesus.

This Sunday we celebrate the reason for our hope, the empty tomb.  I can think of no better way to honor and remember the sacrifice of our Lord than to live as he lived and spread his Kingdom ever wider.

From Our Leaders

We are delighted to introduce Scott Heare, an experienced minister and consultant, who is providing invaluable support to Jess Lowry during her recovery from Long Covid. Scott's expertise and compassion are truly appreciated as we continue to pursue our mission together. You’ll see Scott around helping with our instrumental service, consulting on our missional projects, and providing staff support. We are deeply grateful for his commitment to God’s Kingdom and our community. You can find his sermons on our Youtube channel as well.
